Leather boat shoes are built for dock decks and weekend sails, but a little routine care keeps them comfortable and good-looking season after season.
Rinse after salt exposure
Fresh water removes salt that can dry out leather. Wipe shoes with a damp cloth and let them air dry away from direct heat.
Brush and condition
Remove loose dirt with a soft brush, then apply a leather conditioner made for shoes. A thin coat every few weeks prevents cracking and preserves color.
Protect the soles
Non-skid rubber soles wear faster on rough surfaces. Rotate pairs when you can, and check tread regularly — especially on pre-owned shoes you plan to wear often.
Store them properly
Use shoe trees or lightly stuff with paper to hold shape. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
When it is time for a refresh
Scuffs happen. A matching polish or leather cream can restore the finish. Browse Shoreline for replacement laces or your next pair when it is time to upgrade.
